The Dunkirk film
I recently saw the new film on Dunkirk and while I enjoyed it, I was ultimately unsatisfied. As I explained to my wife, the film does not even attempt to give its audience a sense of the scale of both the impending disaster to the British army in France as a result of the swift German breach of the defensive lines through the Ardennes, nor the scale of the actual improvised sealift of the bulk of that army off the beaches.
